Wow Carl, it is really interesting to hear about your grandfather and the Bouquet. In some ways the times past, when the Jersey shore was a less developed and much different place than it is today, seem so far removed from what we see and find today. The Barnegat Cup race seems like ancient history. Yet your writing about your grandfather makes me realize we are not so far away from those days.

I would love to hear more about your grandfather, the boat and the bay if you want to share any other memories or history. You can write me at
memories "at" discoverseasideheights. com
if you would be willing/interested in sharing more.

Thanks for leaving this note.

I have a scale model of the Bouquet built by my grandfather Leopold F. Zwarg in the 1940s. "Pappy" or "Leo" Zwarg was the owner of the boat through the 40s and early 50s. The original Bouquet was a completely open decked boat. In later years a typical cat boat cabin was constructed. The model reflects this later arrangement.
